This Man Wants To Sue The Municipal Council For Throwing Out 8,000 BTC By Mistake!
<p> "Fuhh a lot, all kinds of things can be bought with that 8,000 BTC."</p><p><br /></p><p>A Newport resident, James Howells, who accidentally disposed of a hard drive containing 8,000 Bitcoins (BTC) during a cleaning activity, has filed a lawsuit against the municipality.</p><p><br /></p><p>This is because they refused to accept Howells' request to dig up a landfill to find his missing crypto-currency after local authorities believed the effort could harm the environment.</p><p><br /></p><p>The string, Howells who expressed his disappointment sent an open letter to the municipal council on September 4, 2023 to allow him to start the excavation process by September 18, 2023.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>In 2022, Howells proposed to local authorities to find his digital asset in three years through $11 million in capital, where the budget would cover various things such as artificial intelligence (AI) machines, robot dogs and human labor.</p><p><br /></p><p>Not only that, the BTC owner also promised to give 60% of the recovered BTC to the people who helped him in his mining mission and then distributed $60 worth of BTC to every Newport resident while keeping 30% for himself.</p><p><br /></p><p>But if it fails, the lawsuit will seek damages worth $557 million which is equivalent to the value of BTC lost by Howells, where he also threatened to bankrupt the municipality with legal action.</p><p><br /></p><p>Still, Newport authorities said they would not comment further on the issue because it would take up too much time for officials who want to deliver services for their residents.</p><p><br /></p><p>Please note that Howells' holdings were worth more than $550 million in November 2021 when the price of BTC hit an all-time high of nearly $70,000 and so far, his digital assets are slightly down at $205 million.</p>
