This Happened To US Stocks Earlier In The Week!
<p> The beginning of trading in the last week of August saw the United States stock market record an increase.</p><p><br /></p><p>The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 213.08, or 0.62% to close at 34,559.98, the S&P 500 rose 0.63% to 4,4331.31 and the Nasdaq gained 0.84% to close the New York session at 13,705.13.</p><p><br /></p><p>All three indices were in losses in August, with the S&P 500 falling 3.4%, while the Nasdaq and Dow were down about 4.5% and 2.8%.</p><p><br /></p><p>Meta and Apple traded higher with gains of 1.67% and 0.8% respectively. While Nvidia rose 1.78% and Tesla shares rose 0.1%.</p><p><br /></p><p>The Dow Jones was supported by a strong performance in 3M shares, which jumped 5% amid reports of its lawsuit settlement.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>The stock market fell lower on Friday after Federal Reserve (Fed) Chairman Jerome Powell's speech indicated more interest rate hikes in an effort to fight inflation.</p><p><br /></p><p>However, at the same time the central bank will proceed cautiously with additional increases in interest rates.</p><p><br /></p><p>Following on from that, investors now see another interest rate hike by the central bank will be implemented by the end of this year.</p><p><br /></p><p>In the meantime, investors remain vigilant this week which will be filled with high-impact data such as gross domestic product (GDP), consumer personal spending and US NFP employment.</p>
