PM Launches PADU Initiative, Granting Subsidies & People's Assistance More Transparent!
<p> Most recently, the Main Database System (PADU) has just been officially launched today. This initiative is able to avoid leakage in the provision of aid and subsidies to the truly deserving.</p><p><br /></p><p>The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that subsidy targets without a digital approach such as the PADU system will cause the 'super rich' to benefit from the subsidy allocation provided by the government.</p><p><br /></p><p>Based on the report, not all subsidies given by the government reach the deserving groups.</p><p><br /></p><p>He also said that the subsidy given by the government is estimated (in) ringgit value, currently reaching RM80 billion and it is unlikely that the government will be able to survive and manage the finances of the national budget if these things cannot be improved.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>A total of RM10 billion in subsidies given by the government are benefited by non-citizens who amount to nearly 3.5 million people in Malaysia.</p><p><br /></p><p>Anwar added that PADU is not just about guaranteeing the distribution of subsidies to the misguided. It also shows the capacity of the country and the participation of society as a whole in digital transformation.</p><p><br /></p><p>At the same time, the Minister of Finance wants the issue of disparity to be reduced by ensuring that the urban and rural poor are not left out of receiving the benefits of the transformation.</p><p><br /></p><p>The PADU system is open to users to enable online updating from January 2, 2024 until next March 31.</p><p><br /></p><p>PADU includes an individual profile containing basic demographic information, address, education, household, occupation, income, commitments and assistance received.</p>
