New Zealand December building consents +3.7% m/m (prior -10.6%)

<p>For the y/y down 25%</p><p>Stats NZ on the y/y drop, not a good result at all:</p><ul><li>“The number of homes consented in 2023 was down from 49,538 in 2022, which was the highest number in a calendar year since records began”</li></ul><p>Longer term view:</p><p>NZD/USD is nudging to new highs compared with the overnight session. The USD was weak across the board. Risk caught a bid and bounced back strongly from the FOMC day selloff. </p>
