Japan weighs one-time $267 per person tax cut – report
<p>The ruling Japanese LDP is considering a one time reduction of 40,000 yen per person in taxes as part of an economic stimulus package, <a href="https://asia.nikkei.com/Politics/Japan-weighs-one-time-260-tax-cut-to-ease-inflation-s-pain" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">according to NIkkei</a>. Both taxpayers and their dependants would qualify so the extra money could be significant for a household.</p><p>Non-taxpayers could also qualify for 70,000 yen in cash assistance. </p><p>The overall package would cost the heavily-indebted country around 5 trillion yen and could be announced in early November.</p><p>The move is billed as an effort to ease the pain of inflation, which is an odd thing to be contemplating given that the BOJ still has rates zeroed out.</p>
