Interview with Marios Chailis, Chief Marketing Officer – Libertex Group
<p>The connection between sports and the financial markets is not immediately apparent to many. With this in mind, could you perhaps explain how an online trading platform such as Libertex came to partner with a top football club like FC Bayern?</p><p>Well, top-level sport and trading actually have a lot more in common than you might first think. Beyond the adrenaline and high stakes, both require intense discipline and unwavering commitment – qualities which both we and FC Bayern value greatly. </p><p>Similarly to how FC Bayern is so much more than just a football team, Libertex is also so much more than just a trading platform. It’s more like an idea or way of life that encompasses a set of values and a philosophy that is reflected in everything we do.</p><p>At Libertex, we have a strong ethos that is centred on trust, teamwork and a winning mentality – one that our partners at FC Bayern demonstrably share. After all, these values are a vital part of what makes a great football team. Coincidentally (or perhaps not), they are the same values that are at the heart of any successful company. </p><p>And when two partners share the same outlook and value system, their differences, however great, become insignificant. They can then work together to achieve impressive results and bring their respective worlds closer together in the process.</p><p>So, was this shared philosophy the inspiration for your and Bayern’s recent joint campaign?</p><p>As one of the world’s leading trading platforms, Libertex is proud to be the Official Online Trading Partner of one of the world’s biggest and most successful football teams. Since our relationship with FC Bayern was built on a foundation of trust and shared values, we decided that this would be the logical focus of our new “Push for More” campaign. </p><p>Beyond highlighting some of these common values, the campaign also seeks to reflect the overall philosophy that governs both ourselves and FC Bayern. Much like our own “Trade for More” ethos, this campaign aims to engage and inspire people around the world to act with more confidence, trust, and self-belief in order to make their dreams a reality.</p><p>As a company, we are convinced that anyone is able to constantly expand their horizons and reach ever-higher goals, provided they invest constant effort. I would also like to take this opportunity to note that the campaign’s launch auspiciously coincided with FC Bayern winning their 33rd Bundesliga title and their 11th consecutive one since 2013. </p><p>We believe that this is not just a happy coincidence, but rather proof of the power of the messages conveyed by our campaign.</p><p>What about the content of the main video itself? Would you mind telling us a little about what we can see in it and what it’s about more generally?</p><p>I’d be delighted, though I would just like to first go on record as saying how very happy we are with the final result and the outstanding work of everyone involved throughout the production process. </p><p>This imaginative and polished video features three top-class Bayern footballers: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Leroy Sané, and Matthijs de Ligt, who show off their skills while imparting some of the philosophy and values that have helped them reach the pinnacle of world football.</p><p>Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting discusses strategy as the intersection of talent and purpose: knowing what you need to do and how to make it happen well before you even step out onto the field. He explains quite correctly how this is the key to unlocking the full potential of your team.</p><p>Meanwhile, Leroy Sané waxes lyrical on skill, the harmony, as he calls it, between ability and practice. Everyone admires it, but nobody wants to face it on the field! Finally, Matthijs de Ligt talks about discipline and the ability to focus on a goal as you push for more, while simultaneously building a relationship of trust and sense of unity with your teammates. </p><p>Each of these top players explain how those three basic principles (strategy, discipline, and skill) have helped them reach their current position in football today, detailing how these elements of the game have pushed them to achieve excellence. Apart from showcasing the exceptional talents of these world-class players, the video emphasises these three core values which Libertex and FC Bayern share.</p><p>How did it feel shooting a video like that with some of the world’s most famous footballers?</p><p>If I said that the Libertex team weren’t a little starstruck, I’d be lying. I mean, it’s not every day you get to meet and film alongside the kind of famous footballers that you would usually only see on television. There was a particularly special moment for all of us when our Brand Director was invited onto the pitch to exchange a few passes with some of the Bayern players. </p><p>It was a totally one-of-a-kind experience from start to finish and both sides were motivated by a burning desire to produce something of real value for our own institutions, as well as for everyone who watches the final video. Finally, it was of special significance for us that the entire post-production process was carried out in-house by Libertex’s own Creative Studio.</p><p>Could you tell us an interesting fact about the video that we might not have known and perhaps give us a teaser of what we can expect from your two organisations’ partnership in the future?</p><p>Well, first and foremost, this was the first time that we used FC Bayern’s players in a Libertex campaign since our multi-year partnership was first announced in 2022. In the video, the players are wearing the team’s new kit for the 23/24 season – one of its first appearances in a club partner campaign since its unveiling last May. </p><p>As FC Bayern’s very first Online Trading Partner, we are honoured to be able to work with such a world-leading football club and to continue creating value over the coming years. In terms of specifics, we can’t really reveal anything concrete at this stage, but we can confirm that there are some great initiatives in the pipeline for the future. This is by no means the culmination of our cooperation, but rather just the beginning!</p><p>What is the attraction for companies like Libertex to partner and collaborate with international sports teams like FC Bayern?</p><p>Sports sponsorship and business is a relationship seemingly as old as time and the power of the positive brand association that the right partnership can bring is not to be underestimated. As sport, and in particular football, become increasingly popular and more accessible to audiences around the world, this type of marketing will be extremely important to any successful outreach strategy. </p><p>And nowadays, the pervasive nature of digital and social media means that a sporting partnership no longer only yields positive exposure on match days, it works for your brand 24/7, 365 days a year. For us, the connection between top-flight football and online trading is quite pronounced, especially when it comes to target demographics. Football fans and online traders have a great deal in common, but we are looking to go further and bring them together over a shared sense of purpose. </p><p>There is an undeniable trend towards more discerning consumers these days. They now gravitate towards brands that align with their personal principles. Without the sort of real emotional connection – the sort of which football fandom can inspire – it’s hard to break through and reach new customers.</p><p>This isn’t Libertex’s first club sponsorship deal. Could you tell us a bit more about how trading and football fit together for you both in general and in terms of this deal specifically?</p><p>Beyond the obvious benefit for our brand, <a href="https://libertex.com/" target="_blank" rel="follow">Libertex</a> is immensely proud of all its sports sponsorships. Since 2020, for example, Libertex has been the Official Online Trading Partner of EPL giants Tottenham Hotspur. </p><p>Before that, we were active in Spain with Getafe and Valencia CF and we are now utterly delighted to have added FC Bayern to our list of footballing partners. Through this combination of football and trading, the partnership allows Libertex to share its love of the game with its millions of customers worldwide. </p><p>Regarding FC Bayern in particular, its self-image stands for an extreme winning mentality and a good shot of self-confidence, just like the club’s motto – “If you want to win, you have to work hard for it” – a mentality that clearly aligns perfectly with our own “Trade for More” philosophy. </p><p>We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership with FC Bayern and we can’t wait to do even more exciting things together!</p>
