General Government Free Toll 2 Days in conjunction with Christmas
<p> Recently, the Ministry of Public Works (KKR) announced a two-day toll exemption for all highway users in conjunction with the Christmas celebration.</p><p><br /></p><p>Deputy Minister of Public Works, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said that the special exemption will be given to all types of vehicles on December 23 (Saturday) and December 26 (Tuesday) at all toll plazas except at the border of Johor, which is the Sultan Iskandar Building Toll (BSI) and Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza.</p><p><br /></p><p>The decision was made after the ministerial meeting that took place on December 6 in conjunction with this year's Christmas celebration.</p><p><br /></p><p>The ministry also explained in its statement that the two dates were chosen to avoid traffic congestion on the day of the journey back to their respective destinations.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>This toll exemption is expected to ease the travel burden of all Malaysians planning to return home to visit family and celebrate Christmas during the school holidays. This is also in line with the desire of the Unity Government to help ease the burden of the people across various religions, ethnicities and beliefs.</p><p><br /></p><p>They also hope that highway users can take advantage of this opportunity by planning their journeys wisely and following the recommended travel planning advice.</p><p><br /></p><p>Yesterday, Ahmad Maslan said on average the government allocates RM21 million per day to highway concession companies as a toll-free initiative and to help the people.</p><p><br /></p><p>This year, the government paid RM80.07 million in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, RM41.21 million for the Chinese New Year holidays to implement free tolls.</p>
