Descending! Malaysian Inflation Almost Reaches Target Floor

<p>&nbsp;Malaysia continued to see a decline in consumer inflation in June to 2.4% from 2.8% recorded previously.</p><p><br /></p><p>It was the lowest reading recorded since April 2022, driven by sharp declines in food and transport prices.</p><p><br /></p><p>Meanwhile, core inflation (excluding prices of fresh food and government-controlled goods) also slowed to 3.1% from 3.5% previously, and was the smallest increase since June 2022.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Here are more details on inflation in June:</p><p><br /></p><p>Food and non-alcoholic beverages down to 4.7% from 5.9%</p><p>Transport sector declines to 0% from 1.0%</p><p>The restaurant and hotel sector declined to 5.4% from 6.7%</p><p>Housing care, furniture and housing hardware sector decreased to 2.73% from 2.7%</p><p>The other goods and services sector fell to 2.6% from 2.9%</p><p>Recreation and culture sector down to 1.6% from 1.8%</p><p>The housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel sectors remained at 1.8%</p><p>Education sector unchanged at 1.9%</p><p>The health sector increased to 2% from 1.9%</p><p>The communications sector rose to -3.6% from -3.7%</p><p>Clothing and footwear slipped to 0.1% from 0.4%</p><p>Alcoholic beverages and tobacco fell to 0.6% from 0.7%</p><p>In addition, inflation in urban areas fell to 2.4% compared to 2.9% previously and rural areas also decreased to 1.9% from 2.4% previously.</p><p><br /></p><p>Malaysia is one of the countries that recorded the lowest inflation compared to several other countries, Europe (5.5%), the United States (3.0%), the Philippines (5.4%), Indonesia (3.5%) and South Korea (2.7%).</p>
