Amazon & Other US Stores Are Threatened With Bombs If They Don't Hand Over BTC!
<p> "All the US retailers are gone, threatened to be bombed."</p><p><br /></p><p>United States (US) retailers Kroger, Target, Walmart, Amazon Whole Foods Market and others received threats including threats of bombing if they did not pay ransoms in the form of gift cards, eBitcoin (BTC) or fiat money.</p><p><br /></p><p>The threats have been ongoing for several months and law enforcement agencies are currently investigating.</p><p><br /></p><p>The number of stores in New Mexico and Wisconsin reportedly affected by such bomb threats means that it is an unusual occurrence and is the latest form of extortion targeted at retailers.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>An employee from a Whole Foods Market in suburban Chicago received a call from a scammer demanding $5,000 worth of BTC.</p><p><br /></p><p>According to the caller, a pipe bomb had been placed in the store and detonated if the ransom was not paid while in New Mexico, the scammer not only asked for money to be passed to him but the bomb would be detonated if the police were involved.</p><p><br /></p><p>A police statement revealed that tracing the fraudster through his number has proved unsuccessful as the number is usually blocked and so far no one has been able to ascertain if the number was connected.</p><p><br /></p><p>Despite this, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been working closely with local and state law enforcement agencies to catch the scammers.</p><p><br /></p><p>These targeted shops are advised to pick up the calls but at the same time no payment should be made to the caller, however the employees should try to gather sufficient information from the caller.</p>
