Finally Acquiesced, Maxis Joins DNB For 5G Access
<p> Maxis Bhd will reportedly sign an agreement with Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) for 5G network access.</p><p><br /></p><p>It is understood that the mobile operator company will spend RM360 million every year to access 5G operated by the national government wholesale.</p><p><br /></p><p>According to its notification to Bursa Malaysia on Friday, consolidated income and earnings per share (EPS) may be reduced following additional interest expenses if operating expenses are financed through bank loans.</p><p><br /></p><p>Maxis, along with several other mobile operators have previously pushed for a review of DNB's pricing terms which they say are not commercially viable and cause higher costs for customers and slower usage rates.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>In addition, the single ownership plan has also raised concerns about monopoly.</p><p><br /></p><p>It became the last mobile network operator to sign a 5G access agreement with DNB, and this marks an important milestone for the industry.</p><p><br /></p><p>Maxis stated its willingness to sign the access agreement because it is in its best interest and there is no other 5G option.</p><p><br /></p><p>Following the report, Maxis shares opened higher in Monday's morning session at RM4.14 before paring some gains to stand at RM4.08 in the afternoon trading session.</p>
