(01 April 2020)DAILY MARKET BRIEF 1:Souring market mood despite glimmers of optimism in China.

<p>US stock indices reversed earlier gains in New York and closed Tuesday’s session in the negative territory. The Dow fell 1.84%, as the S&amp;P500 and Nasdaq gave back 1.60% and 0.95% on news that the number cases in New York surpassed Wuhan, signaling that the US is not out of the woods just yet.</p>
<p>Asian stocks kicked off the new quarter on a mixed note. Nikkei lost 1.31% as the Tankan index fell to a seven-year low of -8 in the first quarter from 0 printed previously, although the number was slightly better than the -10 expected by analysts.</p>
<p>Stocks in Sydney gained past 2% as the minutes from the latest Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) policy meeting pledged that the record low rates won’t be increased until a concrete progress toward full employment and inflation back to the 2-3% range.</p>
