Expensive Raw Chicken Price, Up to RM11 Per Kilo!
<p> Wednesday yesterday, the highest price of chicken recorded during inspection after flotation was RM11 per kilogram and the lowest was RM6.49 per kilogram.</p><p><br /></p><p>Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the price of chicken was recorded to have risen to RM11 per kilogram at Rompin Wet Market, Pahang and Manir Wet Market, Terengganu.</p><p><br /></p><p>Meanwhile, Mari-Mari Supermarket in Mersing, Johor set the lowest price at RM6.49 per kilogram.</p><p><br /></p><p>He also said that 68 (4.6%) of the 1,484 premises in Peninsular Malaysia sell raw chicken at a higher price than the set controlled price of RM9.40 per kilogram.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>The Ministry is conducting continuous monitoring and looking more closely to control the price of raw chicken which has risen after it was announced that the chicken subsidy will end on 1 November 2023.</p><p><br /></p><p>The purpose is to identify fundamental problems such as supply and operating expenses.</p><p><br /></p><p>The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mohamad Sabu, said the wholesale cut of the chicken subsidy was due to leakage because it was more benefited by high-income groups and foreigners.</p><p><br /></p><p>He also did not rule out the possibility that the market price of raw chicken is expected to rise in the future and urged the public to report to the ministry using the correct channels.</p>
